Specially designed for high performance in the lower engine speed range, Fiat Powertrain Technology’s 1.8-L direct-injection turbo-jet engine benefits from optimized turbocharging technology fromBorgWarner. The engine features more efficiency, improved driving dynamics, and increased eco-friendliness. The engineers chose an optimally tuned version of the K03 exhaust gas turbocharger from BorgWarner for the high-torque engine, which will be installed in the Alfa Romeo 159 and the Lancia Delta. BorgWarner used special welding technology to fix the cast manifold directly to the turbine housing. The 147-kW (197-hp) 1.8-L power unit, which complies with the Euro 5 emissions standard, develops a maximum torque of 320 N·m (236 lb·ft) at 1400 rpm.
