Interoperability Drill

Radio communications equipment for emergency response has been tested including the new Louisiana Wireless Information Network (LWIN) at the Region 5 interoperability drill. City, parish, and state officials now have the capability to communicate with each other during emergencies. State and local first responders were provided with free hands-on training. The interoperable communications equipment was purchased by local, state and federal grants. This was the first regional training exercise of its kind in the state. Region 5, along with the Governors Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Louisiana Sheriffs Association, and the Louisiana State Police were involved. Region 5 includes Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis Parishes.
